Can drugs cause strokes

My husband has been prescribed morphine (two 30 & two 15 mg per day, one of each AM & PM) and Norco 7.5 (3 x day as needed) for the last 8 years. (He began pain therapy with two 15mg morphine and two 5mg Norco per day)

A relative of his is getting Subutex and he tried it unbeknownst to me. He had been crushing and snorting them for a year, then had a stroke. Is there any information about whether Subutex or a combination of it and other drugs causing strokes?

Sorry, I don't know anything about these things.

Opioid use can't cause strokes, but opioid withdrawal can. Did he stop using morphine or norco? The subutex might not be making up for the morphine and Norco addiction.

You hear of ischemic and cardiovascular events more often from stimulant use. Do you know if your husband injected drugs at all? What about smoking cigarettes? It's a possibility but you may never know the true cause. I hope he recovers soon!

opiate OD can also cause strokes, or create symptoms that mimic stroke (happened to me).
