Buspirone and clonidine synergy for GAD/ocd/depression with insomnia?

Buspirone has an active metabolite called 1-PP. It is a potent alpha2-adrenergic antagonist that blocks the effects of clonidine in a dose-dependent matter.

Currently I take 0.15mg clonidine at night. Im usually depressed and tired during the day (with or without clonidine) so my guess would be that buspirone could act as a stimulant and antidepressant during the day while clonidine would serve as a sleep aid at night.

Theoratically these two compounds should also reverse each others tolerance?

I would imagine the 1-PP doesn't build up big enough concentrations to significantly occupy a2. If it did, it would have anxiogenic effects (like yohimbine) that would fight against the anxiolytic effects produced by buspirone itself. So we need to decide whether the 1-PP is formed in appreciable quantities from metabolism.

I would think that if the a2 antagonism was relevant it would drastically worsen the sympathetic rebound from opoid withdrawal, while typically Clonidine provides great relief.

Edit: mistype, I meant a2 antagonism and not agonism
