Bupe Bupe patch, strength/dose doesn't add up?

Idk if I'm mistaken in my calculations but something's not adding up. I have 10mg buprenorphine patches that release 10mcg/h of bupe and they last 7 days:

7 days x 24hrs = 168hrs

168hrs x 10mcg(0.01mg) = 1.68mg

So only 1.68mg of the total 10mg is delivered over 7 days? At this point you're meant to throw it away but is there still bupe leftover in the patch and will it keep working if I leave it on or stick it somewhere else?
