Hello all, been on the site for a long time, but never got too involved in the "Words" section, and always wanted to. I am a hip hop lyricist and I try my hand at poetry from time to time. I would like to become a regular on these boards, and share some stuff, and maybe even get a little "freewrite cipher" going where everyone can keep adding on and building forever. In the meantime, I figured I gotta start somewhere, so I'll share a few pieces I stumbled upon today...written many moons ago, in a life far different than today's. (I believe it was a nitrous day, lol)
Broke Heart Beauty -- 2/11/2005
brainless, shameless
i walk through faceless woods
with traces of amazingly famous capers
running through my gas rotten noodle.
i dribble on my pillow like a child as
the darkness creeps through my window like
the snake of temptation with
too much on his scheming mind.
i figure there is little to figure so
i forget the frost shivers as
the street light makes your glimmering smile just bright enough to see.
tomorrow is invisible and yesterday did not happen yet
and now i'm sober, soaring
through the helpless light of a blue moon that came too soon
i've forgotten the light-as-a-feather expressions
and the rock hard exhale
that brought incredible echoes who found it all too easy to penetrate inifinity
i stand on top of a rusted boulder
swinging the sharpest blade
as two rookie soldiers
carefully help me to my feet.
i maintain the stance, tired warrior
but i'm not sure how to answer
your sorry break-the-silence questions.
i would love to help but
i can't find the time.
i just need to get clean
a tear drops as you make slightly too much sense for me
i take broken smiles and staple them to concrete
in the absolute darkest of back alley fire drum nights
you seem to think i don't know a purple sky when i see one
maybe you're just a narcotics agent disguised as a stop sign
but i doubt it
