Most airlines will let you carry it on if it's less than 3.5 oz / 100 ml. Otherwise just make sure it's closed tightly to avoid spills.
But looking into it does reveal some unofficial lists that state "corrosives, oxidizers, peroxides" and things that would kind of make sense. Have you actually done it clocktower? just curious as i could see myself in the same situation as the OP
What exactly is "Check-in luggage"? Never heard the term myself, but I'd guess it means carry-on only and no luggage stored in the plane's hold?
