Misc Benzos/Z-drugs plus antipsychotics for a long flight?

My friend wants to travel from LAX to Melbourne. It's a long flight and he gets very bored and uncomfortable on planes. He knows a bit about drugs and wants to combine benzos, z-drugs and antipsychotics to totally knock him out but is concerned about respiratory depression.

Here are the doses he plans on taking:

  • 20mg Ambien (zolpidem tartate)
  • 200mg Seroquel (quetiapine)
  • 5mg Xanax (alprazolam)
Would this cause respiratory arrest? And would it be powerful enough to knock him out for 12-14 hours?

Just have him or you, take the Xanax only. Do not combine with the seroquel, Ambien, or alcohol. It is a guaranteed blackout and people have been kicked off of flights and arrested for getting too drunk, taking too many downers, or even things such as refusing to sit in their seat during the flight when this is required.

My friend hates flying so he takes a benzo, I think it is Klonopin or maybe Xanax, and he just sleeps during the flight.

I wouldn't mix all of those if he isn't tolerant. 200mg of seroquel and 5mg of xanax is alot if they arent accustomed to taking those drugs.

I've taken that flight a bunch of times, it is pretty rough. A few times coming back I arrived before I had left; essentially time traveling.

He tends not to act violently when on alcohol or while taking Ambien so I think he'll be fine. If he does combine all the three, would he risk passing out or could he take it safely and wake up?

This combo would 100% result in him being arrested. There’s no other outcome here that’s a very dangerous black out / be awake combo.

Even me with a tolerance to past benzo use would black out from those 3 and easily do something incredibly foolish. Let alone not be able to walk, be awaken upon landing, etc.

It easily would with him in TSA office spewing nonsense from his blacked out lips.

I hate flying so much, and even 2 mg of Xanax makes a world of difference. If he has no tolerance 2-3 mg is enough. If he’s tolerant sure 5 mg works but that’s a strong dose

Hopefully your friend will be turned away at the gate if he takes this many meds. And told to wait 24 hours before trying to fly again.

Sleeping and passing out are two different scenarios in an aircraft that is off the ground.

One you get to wake up, have a coffee and deplane. The other you get to wake up, be escorted off and fined heavily.

Pilots and flight attendants hate sheep that are under the influence of anything. They are the biggest liability in case of an emergency. They hinder everyone else's chances of safety.

The meds are for relaxation when flying for people that have high anxiety. Not to pass out and drool through the whole thing.

sometimes I take 100mg seroquel and maybe 2mg of xanax to come down from a meth high. Practically double that.. just to fall asleep on a plane? seems excessive. If you have no tolerance 1mg - 2mg xanax should be enough. Heck even melatonin might do the job. If you do have a tolerance than youd know better than us.

5mgs of Xanax is equivalent to about 70-80mgs of Valium. That alone would be complete over kill for the vast majority of people. Most people who are flight nervous will perhaps take 0.25mgs of Xanax and nothing else. Or 5mgs of Valium if it's a long flight (6+ hours). The withdrawal from 5mgs of Xanax can be horrendous, never mind throwing poly drugging into the mix.

^Probably would need more than 0.25mg Xanax when flying from California to Australia
Taking more Xanax won't make it last longer though. Unless it's Xanax XR in which case 0.5-1mg will be plenty for most people. Personally I would just take 10mgs of Valium. It'll last throughout the entire flight and give a much smoother roll off.

Also, the dude doesn't need to be completely knocked out. 10mgs of Valium will likely keep him awake for the most part, but phobia free. Which is really the whole point of taking a benzo anyway. It's not supposed to be used for KO purposes.

If he's not prescribed then and searched he'll be in big shit, I've heard of a bloke who took all this flight meds before going through customs and when he was waiting for his plane he passed the fuck out in the waiting room and missed his flight lol

He needs to ask his doc for a couple of temazepam. They last longer than ambien.

Honestly I get kind of triggered when I see people talking about 10mg Valium reducing anxiety. I'm not really scared of flying but if I was..I'd have to take 80-100mg Valium or 5mg Xanax XR to be completely comfortable. I had to take 525mg Lyrica and 22.5mg Zopiclone plus some other stuff in order to get a decent sleep last night. It really sucks.
Yes, but that's what high tolerance levels do. My suggestion is on the presumption that this particular person doesn't have a high tolerance level to benzo's. For a person who rarely touches benzos, 10mgs of Valium is plenty to get through a long flight situation.

I do sympathize with you though. I've been down that Benzo hole and it sure as hell is a deep, dark one to fall into. But not all hope is lost. You can get off them. It can be a very drawn out process with symptoms making you feel like you're in the pits of hell at times. But with enough determination and motive to actually get off them, you absolutely can. It doesn't need to be the defining factor of your life.
