Are benzodiazepines and thieondiazepines cross tolerant

Hi

I know benzos and thienodiazepines are both GABAa agnoists, but etizolam works for me, yet, years ago, I was prescribed 15mg valium a day (5mg three times a day) off my doctor, but had to taper off as valium stopped working, yet 1mg of etizolam works.
I haven't taken valium since, as I assumed it would never work again, and also I read on here, that others said benzo tolerance never goes down.
This leads me to wonder if these drugs are cross tolerant.
 
Yes, mechanism of action is pretty much identical.
 
IME no. When withdrawing from one or the other at various different times the other never provided much relief from symptom withdrawal.
