I'm currently in the process of running some clinical trials on my pet hamster, Boris.
Boris is a 30 year old, 120 kg male hamster. He is currently taking Zoloft (Sertraline HCL) and Propranolol twice per day, as prescribed by a doctor, and has been following the doctors orders for the past 6 years, but has been feeling like the meds aren't really working for him any more; he has been sleeping a lot more than usual (12 hours~ per day), and lacking motivation to do anything at all really. He has no energy, and no 'drive' to do anything any more. Total bean bag.
So, in order to attempt to cheer him up, I started feeding him 500µl of GBL every 1-2 hours, and have kept this up for almost 1 month now.
If Boris wants to sleep, I give him 2ml every 2 hours (every time he wakes up, keep redosing)
He tells me that he, for the first time in his adult hamster life, actually feels happy. He enjoys going outside, socializing, performing menial household chores and isn't sleeping at all during the day any more
Does anyone have any experience with this kind of dosage? How long can he expect to remain at this dose before becoming tolerant to it's effects?
Would it be better to try and get this dose down to maybe 300µl? or perhaps even lower? is there a 'threshold' amount that he needs to take to get the stimulating effects of GBL?
I'm trying to think long-term for him, as in, what would the implications of dosing like this every 2 hours for, say, 6 years (aside from the inevitable tolerance build-up and addiction to GHB, which he intends to manage with slight incremental dosing alterations and tapering)?
Also would it be worth converting the GBL into GHB before administration? As he has heard that GHB has a more 'steady' come-up, as opposed to GBL where it just 'hits' you suddenly. He thinks this might be better in the long term.
Thanks
