Stimulants Amphetamine just doesn't last

@CFC it’s been a while since I’ve visited the forums and I came on a whim but I am glad that I did because I appreciated your mention of splitting a dose with liquid. After some quick research I learned that lisdexamphetamine demesylate is highly soluble in water - 792 mg/mL!! (Most likely at 25 and that taking the dose spread over a few hours could help prevent a overly exaggerated come up and come down before the intended tapering off of the medication.

You mentioned that you are 30 years old. How long have you been taking ADHD medications? I’m am 31 and have been clocking “pre high BP” numbers (120-130/70-90) consistently. I’m 5’11” and take either 30 mg Vyvanse, 40 mg Vyvanse or 5-20 mg Adderall IR per day.

What are other people’s experiences? Maybe this is the wrong place to chime in in this regard.

Anyways, drinking your Vyvanse over the course of a few hours, instead of taking it all at once, seems like it could be a viable solution to problems with duration. Always talk with your doctor about your medication situation!! No buzz is worth having a heart attack over and dying because of!!

Go with the meth bud....nah stay away from that shit lol

Been there... I'm good.

I like the idea of putting it in water to split the dose. Not any different really than separating the powder into two or three doses to be taken throughout the day. The only reason I prefer actually using the scale and weighing it out is that I know *exactly* how much I am taking.

I spent the better part of a year splitting 60mg vyvanse capsules every morning with a scale. I got pretty good at it. Interestingly both the 40mg and 60mg capsules that I've had contained 150mg of powder; thus more filler must have been present in the 40mg capsules.

I find it incredibly lame that 60mg vyvanse only provides 5 hours (really only 4 good solid hours plus 1 weak hour) of stimulation and focus. When I started vyvanse at 40mg it lasted around 10 hours but tolerance heh... I'd personally rather be prescribed like 40mg vyvanse and another 30mg or 40mg vyvanse daily than 60mg vyvanse with an IR booster. But insurance won't pay for something that's supposed to "last 10-12 hours".

Sometimes I'll split an extra 60mg vyvanse into 3 - 20mg capsules and take one of them in the afternoon following my 60mg AM dose. I love these days so much. It is a night and day difference.

A few months ago I was started on an afternoon IR adderall booster, so this has allowed me to stop having to split the vyvanse each morning. But, there are days every week where I need to be working and/or doing schoolwork for 16+ hours and on those days the booster barely cuts it so I've been thinking about trying the splitting method again; at least on the long days.

Thanks for the tips! :) I may end up going that route. For a short while I actually went to the effort of stripping the lysine from the lisdex and taking pure dex base. But it's extremely inconvenient and not particularly amenable to accurate dosing.

That's impressive chemistry skills! But yeah a private specialist should happily switch you over to proper IR dex without much fuss at all.

I've been on it for a few years now mate. I mostly avoid tolerance by not taking it every day - if I can avoid it. I'm prescribed 70mg but 35-40mg is adequate for my needs most of the time as long as I don't take it all at once. I generally dump the powder into a drink, take a third of the drink first thing (ie 13mg), and then take small sips of the remainder every couple of hours until 4-5pm. It's a much more productive approach for me than single or dual dosing, which tends to gyrate blood levels too much and either cause me to crash rather quickly after peaking or alternatively cause somnolence, depending.

Do you find that the effects are consistent when dosed in an "eyeballed" manner in liquid? I'd much rather do this than weigh capsules; I'm just concerned that the lisdexamfetamine wouldn't disperse evenly in throughout the solvent, leading to variations in the amount ingested despite drinking the same amount of water. Is this not something to be concerned about?

I've got another thread open about this now, but does anyone have experience using bupropion (wellbutrin) in an acute manner (not daily dosing) to potentiate amphetamines?

Oh ok dont know what vyani se is

Vyvanse is lisdexamfetamine. It is dextroamphetamine bound to l-lysine so that it takes advantage of the body's metabolic processes to release dextroamphetamine throughout the day, as opposed to IR and even XR formulations.

It is marketed as a stimulant medication which has effects lasting for 10-12 hours and is prescribed for ADHD and Binge Eating Disorder (in the US).

I'm 40 mate. I've been on vyvanse for 2 years now. It can increase BP and/or HR for sure, though in my case it actually lowers it (which does happen to a small minority).

I would like to pretend I do, but actually it's very simple to do, albeit it does take a bit of time.

Yes I do. When I first started, I used a small glass measuring cylinder to be super precise, but a regular even-diameter glass has proven adequate for a decent dose approximation. The lisdex will disperse very readily and evenly in the water - it's highly water soluble. Some of the other crap in the capsule is less so and will visibly stick to the sides of your glass, but I can assure you it's not the lisdex.

I would think you're just as likely to partially block amphetamine's direct neurotransmitter releasing action using bupropion.
