Alcohol for benzo withdrawal

I have found that when I don't take a benzo that alcohol gets me through that 20 minute period until the benzo starts working. This sucks. Do you know why?

I don't completely understand the question but alcohol and benzos both act on GABA-A receptors so the effects are quite similar. But taking alcohol for benzo withdrawal is a bad idea due to neurotoxicity and seizure risk
