So you think the government has been lying to you about the effects of cannabis (marijuana)?

Well, are you aware that the United States Congress concluded with the National Commission on Marihuana and Drug Abuse, a.k.a., the Shafer Commission:

“…that the] possession of marijuana for personal use no longer be an offense, [and that the] casual distribution of small amounts of marihuana for no remuneration, or insignificant remuneration, no longer be an offense.”

Paul Armentano writes a brief synopsis on NORML’s blog on how the U.S. federal government has ignored its own fact-finding in favor of doing the opposite and counter-intuitive for the past forty years.

Also, for those of you that would like to read the Shafer Commission report, “Marihuana: A Signal of Misunderstanding,” you can check it out here at the Shafer Library of Drug Policy.

Nixon ordered the creation of the Shafer commission.
Then, when their results didn't match what he was hoping for, he simply ignored what all of the experts said, and created the drug war.
So twisted and evil.

neuropolitics said:
during the
Johnson administration, a bitter battle was fought on
this issue. Medical and scientific
people (backed by the Kennedys) urged that drugs be
administered by the Department
of Health, Education and Welfare, while law-and-order
people politicked for the Department
of Justice. History may well decide that the
second great belligerent disaster of
the Johnson years was the decision to turn drug
control over to the police.
thought crime...

Its funny how millions of people laugh about how silly it is that weed is illegal and admit that it is such a safe drug yet millions more on the other side will go psycho if you bring it near them, and even act like its heroin or something.

I guess its easy to brainwash people with any old bullsh*t anymore, we're just too gullible and easy to lie to. I guess that's why the most evil people on earth are still running the show to this day.

would have to say - I think the illusion is fading here. Too bad we can't just get over our phobia of ALL illegal drugs and realize that, logically, it has no benefit for us to keep them that way.

^This illusion will not fade without a fight. People need to be more active and vocal about it. In essence we gotta start adopting some of the tactics used by these assholes otherwise prohibition will never go away.

They say that the Drug War is a war against people. I agree. So we as the people have to start acting like we are in a war. We have to fight back. This shit can't continue forever. Sooner or later our silence has to end.

Organizations like LEAP and NORML don't get enough public support. The prohibitionists think that just because they speak loudly and repeatedly they can blind everyone to the truth. So we gotta start talking just as loud and just as often as them. Except we have the advantage. The truth is on our side.
