G'day dear Bluelighters! :)

By now, you've probably noticed something weird happen recently - your forums lit up with hundreds of unread threads, where on your last visit you only had two unread threads left to visit. Please don't panic. There is method to our madness. :)

We updated our "mark as read" (all instances of "read" here are past tense) system to be more in line with current web-wide standards.

First course of action. Please proceed directly to the bottom of the main forum page ("Forums" link in header). There, in the bottom right hand corner, you will find a link titled "Mark Forums Read". Please go ahead and click on it. You can also find the Mark Forums Read link in the Quick Links dropdown menu in the header.

There, the messy part is done. What that did was clear your "read" counters. From this moment forth, any new post will turn a thread bold ("unread") and the main page will reflect these unread posts with the "New Posts" icon in the left column (that blue arrowhead inside a circle).

Every time you read a thread now, it will be immediately marked as "read" and lose its highlight.

If you are viewing new threads through your user CP, threads which you visit will promptly disappear from that list, as they will now have been "read" and are not new any longer.

If you would like to see certain threads remain in your unread list, please subscribe to those threads and manage them through the subscriptions listing.

Not everyone visits all forums. As such, new threads in those forums not visited by you will remain lit up as "unread" on your screen. You can clear them all at any time by clicking on that same "Mark Forums Read" link we visited in the beginning. You can also mark individual forums as "read" by clicking on the "Mark This Forum Read" link found by activating the "forum Tools" dropdown menu at the top right, under the page numbers.

If something is not immediately obvious, please let us know how we can help you by posting your question in the related thread in the Support forum.

We appreciate your patience during our transition.

:)
