I've been taking it for 7 years in relatively high doses, and sometimes I do feel kinda...ree-ree. But I don't believe it makes me slow intellectually speaking. I just...I'm a fucking space cadet and I know it. I'm SOOOO spaced out sometimes it leads to interesting hilarity. So it's worth it. And I wouldn't trade the therapeutic value for anything.

I've been trying gabapentin and then pregabalin every few days for the past couple weeks so I can compare them side by side, and gabapentin is the winner for me. Gabapentin seems to produce way more euphoria in me and visual disturbances (200mg last night made my bedroom look like a constantly morphing havily brushed oil painting in the dark). Pregabalin is more comparable to a benzodiazepine in effect, which have low abuse potential for me. There also seems to be less euphoria, but less hangover the next day as well when used for sleep for pregabalin (although hangover is subjective, neither are anything at all compared to alcohol).

As I've said pretty much a billion times, the way to get the most out of pregabalin is 150-200mg doses with small snacks spaced 45-60 minutes apart. This is the only way I will ever take gabapentin anymore and when dosing like this the effect is incomparable to a similarly sized single dose (severe motor impairments, open eye visuals, MDMA or alcohol-like social disinhibition, euphoria). This is because of the pharmacokinetics. If you haven't dosed this way, try it, it's like a totally different drug.

I definitely have learned over time (for me) that with Neurontin, less = more. 300 mg gets me where I want to be, and then maybe 900 over the course of the day keeps me there. For me anything over 300 mg in a single dose works counterproductive.

Definitely feel more social and mood elevation is noticeable. The OEV's and CEV's don't always occur and seem to start when it's been in my system for many hours. It does take a little getting used to and at that point I have to make a conscious effort to keep my thoughts and body moving or I will lose track of time. It doesn't help though that my coordination is shot, lol.

Oh and maybe this is just me but I also find myself talking aloud to the walls. 8(

I sniffed a half gram and shot a half gram of decent dope, and took a 400mg neurontin. A little more relaxed than usual I think, and I didn't notice any loss of being jammed.

Hey guys,

Not sure if anyone has posted this. I accidently found out how to make Neurontin more potent. I take a drug called Max-Alt MLT, and after I took my dose for a migrane, I took my usual dose of Neurontin. I was flying higher than I ever had on that dose in the past. But, if you are planning to get the Max-Alt. Make sure you getting one that melts. Because there is a tablet form that doesn't melt on your tongue. Hope this helps. I heart Neurontin. I'm in recovery from opiates and cannot take anything "addictive". My dr gave me Gabapentin for the w/ds and major depressive disorder. It's not a schedule so I can get multiple scripts and lots of gaba. I am soon going to try pregabalin, which I heard is much better. Anyway, hope this works for you guys....

Last night I gave my little brother 30-40mg of sumatriptan (Imitrex) for his migraine, plus 600mg gabapentin. Once his migraine subsided, he said he definitely felt good. This is also my experience with taking pregabalin/gabapentin with Imitrex.

Wondering if someone can help give me some advice

My first experience with Gabapentin was 1 g about a month ago. effects i noticed were

- more apathy than euphoria
- I talked a lot
- stumbled when walking
- weird body buzz, not bad but different, I smoked probably a gram of weed too though
- felt slighty stimulated

I have 2 g now, I'm wondering if taking 2 g compared to 1 g will cause a significant difference or not? should I throw a bar in there with it if i'm going to?

Gabapentin the good and the bad

In my struggles to find good medicines to combat opiate wd's I've found gabapentin to be a godsend for relief from both acute wd and paws,

Anyone thats used gabapentin knows how extremely fast tolerance to it builds up and is a strange drug in that the more you take the less there will actually be in your system for your body to use,

to combat this one needs to stagger dose about 45 minuets apart from each other and always eat a little bit before each dose.

I've always wondered just how bad (or not) daily gabapentin use is on the internals,

When I have a bottle I will take a minimum of 10,000 mg per day,sometimes 15,000 mg

while gabapentin and it's sister drug pregabalin may not get you completely out of withdrawal forest it certainly tames the bitch down to where you can function and sleep and oddly enough keep ones spirits up if paws is getting to you.

the downsides are the high price of these meds,I'm lucky that I only have to pay around NO PRICES for 90 600mg pills of gaba,but if you don't have insurance or similar this stuff is outragously expensive even for the generic(rite aid charges NO PRICES for the same bottle I pay NO PRICES for).

I've always wondered how bad these extremley high doses of gabapentin are?
it will definatley cause weight gain big time(and you thought pot was bad for the munchies)gaba's got to be 10 times worse than weed ever was.

anyone using gaba at these doses?,dos it help you?do you think it's bad on the body?

Wow this stuff gets prescribed for a lot of different things. I was prescribed for anxiety, my brother for pinched nerve pain, my best friend for opiate w/d and my mother for arthritis. What is this stuff? Most are way lower dosages than you but my buddy coming of H does about 5,000 a day, getting it through an alternative treatment program here in mpls. Imagine that, a Minnesota treatment center that doesn't use the Minnesota Model? Their recovery rates are astounding when compared with, say, Hazelden. Hazelden claims (or did when I was there) an 85% success rate after 10 years. Out of the 26 men in my "unit", I think one is sober 9 years later (several are dead). The HRC actually achieves something like 80%. And no book-thumping!

Neurontin got me through acute W/D from Buprenorphine, but I didn't dose 1/10th what you claim to. For me, it did exactly what you described - took the edge off physically enough to let me function in the least bit while keeping my cravings nearly entirely curbed.

Questions: Were you prescribed Gabapentin for pain after an opiate problem and were you directed to dose close to the amount of 10-15g's a day? Is this a one-time experience? How often do you experience opiate W/D's and dose with Gabapentin to alleviate?

I certainly hope you don't use, use and then use Gaba to withdraw...

I don't know the effects that may be caused by this kind of anti-convulsive/tranquilizer consumption, acute or long term.

My gut tells me though, that if they come in 300mg/600mg capsules, reaching 15grams by taking 25 (with 600mg) or even 50 times (with 300mg) that individual amount can't be good for you.

Because it treats nerve issues among others, perhaps it could dull your ability to fully feel everything in various parts of your body with longterm use?

I am scripted gabapentin for rls and nerve pain 600mg 3 times a day,I discovered it's ability to help opiate withdrawal by accident and desperation,

I've told a lot of people and I think many did not believe me when I told them the first time I took gaba it got me so stoned I could barely even walk,it felt better than an opiate to me,

but just like many reports you will come across it only does this the first and second times and never ever again,I mean I've taken over 6 month breaks from the stuff and still nothing,must be somthing to do with the part of the mind this stuff effects,if it felt like that everytime I'd have no use for opiates.

I gradually got to the high doses looking for relief and not so much the high,I 'd rather take gaba than subs which I'm having a terrible time with(allergic really bad)

I wish I had vats of the stuff or it was otc,I go thru a months supply in a few days

and yes I usually save my scripts for emergencies which is bad I know

the high dose don't seem to bother me but I can do 2500-3000mg of tramadol a day without any problems(oxymoron)as far as seizures go

one thing about gabapentin tho-it can alter perception in ways that are scary,

I've been fine (or thought to be fine)while on GP and had some hallucinations that make pcp and lsd kids stuff,not "good" hallucinations but hellishly frightening ones that lasted for several minuets that made me think I was being haunted

I also blacked out while driving,I was completely normal not feeling impaired in the slightest when I slammed into a parked car doing 40mph causing a chain reaction totaling 5 other cars in the process,

the emt and police thought for sure when they cut me from the car I would be trashed on somthing but they ended up just dropping me off at my house(very kind of them)

so now I'm really careful as to what I do while on GP.

Where I am at the moment in Eastern Europe they sell ampules called gabba gamma which contain 500 mg of gabapenatin. I was pescribed it for opiate w/d's and cravings after I got out of rehab here. It does wonders it kills my cravings for needles and dope. Normal tabs of gabapenatin are otc and lyrica but I usually go for the ampules.

If you're not exaggerating that number for tramadol (2.5g-3g) then maybe the Gabapentin has suppressed your CNS so much that the tramadol runs it's course without affecting your NS. 6x the seizure dosage is INSANE.

No exxageration on the tram dose or the gaba,I get embarrased when I have to go thru this stuff in group,its crazy but true,

all the tram has messed me up in the mind,off of it I feel nothing emotionally and I mean nothing,

sex appeal-gone,any interest once had-gone,

I think about death and wonder why anybody even bothers to do anything at all in life,pretty fucking annoying,oh yes I do feel annoyed and angry those feelings are pretty much all I feel,really sucks bad

as far as one drug overiding the other I dunno,its all to confusing to think about

I'm off to the doc today that has scripted me bupe,man has this stuff did a number on me,hives,swelling,fever,puking and on and on,he's going to try subutex to see if the naloxone is the probem but I gotta bad feeling I just can't take bupe at all,my options are running thin,I'll post back tonight(I hope)

yes I did try the lyrica but is only a little better and is bigtime expensive,lyrica seems to last a bit longer but not worth the price,I overheard a lady bitchin at the pharmacy about how insurance companies won't cover lyrica,don't know how true it is as I have no insurance so everythings sky high for me
