At what dose will dextroamphetamine reverse the serotonin transporter and start spitting out SERT.

Also how does this compare to the dose of meth needed to reverse the transporter.

Thanks bros, peace

transporter? hmmm i dunno. Regular dextroamphetamine isn't much of a serotonin agonist. Maybe a bit. Methamphetamine is more agonistic than dextroamphetamine.

I'd say 40-50mgs for most people tho

I'm trying to educate myself more (better something than nothing I guess), and just pulled up some info on this through Wikipedia. Very interesting stuff, thanks.

d-amphetamine does not release serotonin, but it does increase serotonin levels to an extent. it only releases dopamine and norepinephrine.

methamphetamine on the other hand mildly releases serotonin, but is much more powerful at dopamine and norepinephrine release.

Indirect activation downstream from dopamine and norepinephrine release would likely be the culprit behind the slight serotonin level increase from amphetamine.

So at about how many mgs does it start to have an effect on Serotonin?

I thought that a dose of regular amphetamine had to be at neuro-toxic levels before it started having an effect on Serotonin.

I've never read that amphetamine was proven to be neuro-toxic....

Meth is only slightly powerful at releasing NE and DA, it is potency comes from its solubility in fatty tissues.
NE release DA release SERT release
EC 50 (nM ± SD) EC 50 (nM ± SD) EC 50 (nM ± SD)
(+)-Amphetamine 7.07 ± 0.95 - 24.8 ± 3.5 - 1,765 ± 94
(+)-Methamphetamine 12.3 ± 0.7 - 24.5 ± 2.1 - 736 ± 45

As you can see amphetamine is active an mM range, this means you need a very big dose to induce release of SERT, meth on the other hand is 2.5 time potent and it is very likely that recreational doses will elevate serotonine levels.
As for the dose - I cannot answer you, maybe more educated person will.
