Best Album Of All Time

In terms of modern rock? I would have to say the Beatles - White Album. Why? Because you can probably trace every rock band within the last 30 years, their sound, back to that album be it conscious or not. And I dare anyone to disagree.

The entire "alternative" genre can be summed up in two songs: dear prudence and helter skelter. And no one within that genre has written anything close to as good a tune as either one.

Its a bold subjective statement but I'm sticking to my guns on it.

in terms of entire albums i think incubus, foo fighters and rhcp stuff rate highest for me but lately i havent heard a single album as nice to listen to on repeat as wu tang meets the indie culture. i'm not a big wu tang fan but bronze nazareth was all over the album and really painted it in a vibe that keeps me interested

lately, the single album that I found nice to listen to on repeat was "Labcabincalifornia"by The Pharcyde... not necessarily a conscious choice, but was, of course, still nice...

I am a big wu-tang fan if you enjoy hip-hop, Bronze Nazareth is a beast with his production and slang. "The Almighty" is some of the realist album

Check out what Cilaviringz is about with his production and flow;

"Dreddy Kruger" (from "Graveyard Chamber" by the Gravediggaz)

"I be the Bushwick dutchmaster rapper
I love black women and I hate fuckin crackers
Check me yo
My breath stink 'cause I smoke skunk punk
everyday of the month
in a dutchmaster fuckin blunt
Bust the cliche
Niggas talkin he-say-she-say about me
ya bitch-ass-niggas
Y'all not ass, y'all titty
y'all style is shitty
How dare you try to represent New York fuckin City
I been down since BVDs and dew rags
shelltops and shags
I was a little badass with regular and tre bags
Always tryin to get shit I never had
'cause times is bad like luck
That's why I don't give a fuck
I dig up my nose and my butt
on the bus or the train
This is for niggas walkin in the rain
listenin to they walkman(e)
talkin the New York fuckin slang"

(Rza on some early production..... best hip-hop song of all-time in terms of beats, rawness and (especially) lyrics)

yea cilvaringz is pretty dope too, i mean it's not that i listen to wu-tang meets the indie culture nowadays but when it first dropped i listened to the whole thing walking around everywhere.

i was just stuck thinking of hey when was the last time an album dropped that was fully tight? thanks to the napster and people downloading the singles few people still give a shit about hearing a full album that's not just all bangers but also has cohesion.

back before the internet (and grunge) ruined everything, a good album was one that played like chapters in a story. this is why shit like indie music gone mainstream is just a fad. sure they can put out an album full of catchy tunes but there's nothing that ties them together other than a couple of themes you'd use to describe the style with. just a bunch of pretty pieces that don't fit together

Brian Wilson's SMiLE, is hands down, the best album of all time in my small mind.

It's perfect, in every aspect. The sound spans forty years of pop music without sounding dated or out of it's time. I can't give it enough praise... so please, just listen if you've never heard it.

i cant decide what my favourite album is but i have to say that thats one of them. you should check out the reconstructed smile on youtube, its the way it was originally supposed to be. just find the profile "smilereconstruction". i like it much better than the new one because its got his voice back when it was, you know, good (IMO).

"In Fort Worth, Texas there is a drug clinic which takes people off the streets and helps them get over bad LSD trips. They don't use any traditional medical treatment whatsoever. All they do is play the patient our Smiley Smile album and apparently this acts as a soothing remedy which relaxes them and helps them to recover completely from their trip." - Carl Wilson, (1970)

+1 for The Smiths- The Queen is Dead

Oasis-Definitely Maybe and What's the Story (Morning Glory?)

R.E.M. Fables of the Reconstruction and Life's Rich Pageant

I'll just choose Pink Floyd wish you were here. Great to hear bands such as The Mars Volta and Mad Season and AIC...

Pearl Jams Ten and Nirvanas In Utereo

Layne Staley died, alothugh years later on the same day and month as Kurt....RIP
