Still waking up and thought I would go on a rant inspired by some posts by SoCalShordie. Charlie Sheen, before he went crazy, tiger blood and all that. Always came across as down to earth and like a nice normal, comparatively speaking, which is like I said earlier, means he is a better actor than people will give him credit.
He is no jack Nicholson, Anthony Hopkins, Humprey Bogart, Marlon Brando ect....but for his generation of actors he's a lot better than people will admit. He has great comedic timing and acting which usually means at the very least, a solid actor if not good actor.
His problem, yes I have seen at least one biography on him. It has to do with being spoiled. His parents let him run wild. A lot of cash, do what you want, famous dad, charismatic, good looking( if it matters I am straight) throw in a teenager in 70's and early eighties( you can away with more shit) I am only about a decade older, and few cameras, few primitive car phones and a few big bag phones, no internet as we know it today and Southern California. Then after high-school age, he had success.
Daddy's name, will only get you so far.
Throw in no discipline ( I just mean normal middle of road teenager rules), money, ect...Then throw in success and an unchecked, buy as much as you want and good shit, drugs and lots of money for decades and it will have repercussions. It seems that his parents were way too lenient, generous and didn't make him have normality in his teen years, throw in success that is his, daddy's big( or slightly big?) name will only get your foot into the door. The rest is all him. He has very liberal( not getting political) parents who put few boundaries on him as a teen. Then success and all the drugs and alcohol someone so inclined might want, and there is a recipe for disaster. But it also maybe noted and SoCalShordie and I agree, she was more wild than me by a lot, but motherhood has made her a billion times more mature than me. But I like SoCalShordie, along with others, people I knew, that had parents who are the opposite, are too strict, they can be waiting to leave that overprotective for no real reason home/ prison and go buck wild.
Parents, (I am not talking about one's who are really criminally abusive, or just total asswipes), that are too lenient, don't discipline, set rules and boundaries and enforce them, and if they spoil them, even worse. Problems and no moral foundation is bad, and being your kid's best friend and spoiling him/her is not good for them in the long run.
Then there is the opposite, (also not talking abuse and criminal and cruel behavior), keeping a teenager locked up practically and not allowing them a reasonable amount of freedom based on behavior and earning their trust. That is a disaster waiting to happen, but if they were raised right, they might be slightly better off, than the spoiled brat who could do whatever they wanted growing up.
Charlie Sheen has been an adult for around 40 years, but his lenient and spoiled upbringing, then early success are at root of his problems. He has no never really learned what disicipline and being held accountable for his actions.( Until HIV, his career, which withstood so much is dead ect...)
He should have a 9 figure net worth, respect, and have a career. Lack of discipline and I will do whatever I want, finally bit him in ass, hard, and I wouldn't want to be around all that HIV infected 'Tigers Blood'. Who knows, maybe he will learn from this but he is pushing 60, and the entertainment industry is in a shithole. Maybe this, and all other stuff he has destroyed will make him a better man, but it doesn't seem like he ever knew or was taught how to behave like a normal decent person.
It is a sad sight to see these middle aged and above spoiled brats.
