Pornhub Year In Review

Which state has little lupe and aria haze cuz I need to move there?

@Mjäll, I used to work as a proofreader. I can assure you that “year in review” is correct English. It would be better if one said “THE year in review,” but it’s essentially the same. “In review” means the same thing as “under review.”

If you doubt me, Google it! Even the Wall Street Journal had an article titled “Year In Review: 2022” :)

That's true, it can be interpreted in a way that makes sense.

Isn't it really a widely accepted mishearing of "year-end review", though? American english is full of that stuff. "Could care less" being a prime example. My bet still is on that. How would americans pronounce the phrase? Intuitively "review" seems to be the operative noun rather than "year".

Incorrect accepted as correct is not the same as logically correct, imo.

I half-stand half corrected.

Also who watches pornhub? Xnxx is where it's at IMHO. I use Firefox with an ad blocker even on mobile.

They mean slightly different things: a year end review is something that is conducted at the end of the year, whereas a year IN review could mean the review of a year to date (that does not necessarily begin and end in January.) Here is a link that will explain farther; but, rest assured, it is correct English either way. :)

Pornhub sucks, yeah. I use xhampster but isn’t that CONNECTED to Pornhub somehow?

I read that source, doesn't answer my questions although it does contain a statement declaring that both variants are correct. The thing is that sometimes, a misheard variant becomes correct by mere force of habit, which is distinct from logical correctness. That's what's interesting to me. I think this "year in review" is really a "year-end review" even though "year in review" can be a coherent phrase in some circumstances.

Either way, this thread is about a "year-end review", according to your definitions here. It's about year 2022, after year 2022.

We should make a thread, in another forum (probably Words?) for grammar nerds! :)

I would never ever be a grammar nerd unless it's off topic :$
Well I totally identify as a grammar nerd. And I share your frustration with the fact that Americans don’t use English so good on the interwebs 😆 but this is off-topic for this particular forum. This forum is for boasting about your sex life 😜

I'll boast about sex if you make a grammar thread for that

Deal

right. what a fun discussion.

when we say "year in review" it's not a "year in review", rather a "year in review". that emphasis changes the meaning completely. further, if using "year in" as a compound phrase before a noun as an adjective (e.g. "year in review"), they two words would need to be hyphenated: "year-in review".

words are sexy :)

The one for my state makes my head hurt. I had to look it up on pornhub, and from what I gather it refers to...mostly animated stuff in which a relatively flat-chested woman grows a set that look like they'll contribute to a lifetime of back pain...?

We should've followed Utah's lead and gotten something stereotypically associated with the state in some way, like "igloo gangbangs" or something

It's a wonder no state had "grammar" as its top search

I wank to that shit every day

Fixed it for you 😅

My state lines up with my preference for watching solo girl stuff... i take pride In knowing i contributed to a statistic finally

West Virginia, one of the most consistently anti-LGBTQ states... loves trans porn. Why am I not surprised. Then you have Utah, Mormons who actually apparently like Mormons. Surprisingly wholesome for such a creepy religion.
