Hey, I am a feeling much more stable. I am even having a powerful acid trip, well ETH-LAD. I just feel all calmed down, this past week has been great (well 5 days at least, or so, of mental stability... no suicidal thoughts, lots of motivation, quite a bit of pain too though).

^^ Yeah, percs I find are useless because they last for like 1 or 2 hours max. It's shit. The extended release is so much better, I want to get completely off of percocet and only use XR ]
Believe it or not they're roxis (ir) but they seem to last like at least 8 hours. Weird because I've had Qualitest roxi 30s and they only lasted like 2-3 hours but these Activis/Watson roxi 15s seem to last like 6-8 hours. Maybe its the brands formulation but I ain't complaining!

Hey Y'all...Johndoe, do the brand names vary that much with Oxycodone 15s? Funny, but not as in "ha-ha", the reason I don't take my prescribed 15 mg is they don't last the 4 hours...certainly not the 6 hours. My PM refuses to write for 120 per month. His reason is because he doesn't want to "draw negative attention". It was initially 90, but he bumped to 100 per month and told me "to make it work".

I don't take them unless my pain is literally CRIPPLING, because I have no faith in this doctor or his ability to "manage" my pain. I can see where my body could easily crave more regular dosing, which is counter-productive for me. I've read too many horror stories of upped dosages, tolerance, folks forced to buy off the street or worse.

Sad, because that "initial" relief from decades of pain is like MAGIC, as in "God...I'm BACK!!" Then 2 hours later, the magic is gone and I'm left with rebound pain and RAGE. That screams for me "WARNING, WARNING!" I see my PM tomorrow. I'm going to ask AGAIN for ER version, which I've never tried. He doesn't think my altered GI can absorb the OxyContin properly. (Yes, I've had genetic testing done to determine which pain meds process effectively) My prick doctor ignored the valuable information. I'm screwed 8 ways from Sunday with an incompetent PM doctor (dept. head of the entire pain center @ hospital) He knows I NEED help with pain, but doesn't want to invest the time and energy of a difficult case like mine.

John, Closeau, Shroomy...I'm happy that you're finding "some" relief and some answers going forward.

SKR...Sorry you're struggling, my brotha. Have you given any more consideration to the Methadone for pain? Would that replace your Oxycodone? Who knows, really...I've known folks in lifelong pain who swear by it's relief. I know folks who swear at it when they needed to wean down to lower doses. Y'all know that I don't know JACK about meds. I admit there are days when I wish I had known Jack Kevorkian!!

I'm afraid to change ADs. It took a while to find Zoloft. It doesn't cause me weight gain or goofy side effects. It's the old chicken/egg conundrum, except it isn't...I know that if I didn't hurt so fucking BAD, I wouldn't feel so SAD.

tnvol...Good to see you again, but not really. :\ I was hopeful that you had found your "level" with pain adequately "managed". I'm sorry to hear that things have gone (further) south for you. Not for nuttin' though...GO REBELS!!---Sugar Bowl Bound...That is, IF their best fucking players don't keep falling like flies, literally, while partying like idiots!! I digress. I truly hope you find answers through a new doctor.

I've just returned from getting Synvisc One shots into both my knees, because cartilage is GONE. I have bone on bone pain in my knees, hips and spine. The Synvisc is a detour around TKR (both) for as long as I can manage it. Ortho said the left has deteriorated even more since March (yay me) and my bones are continuing to thin. She compared my lack of bone density years ago to "rickets" (yep) something quite common in the days of Titanic.

Irony is that I joke that I'm constantly rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. Yea, I know how the story ends. But by God, I need something to "distract" me (don't cha love that?) from my pain. ALL ABOARD!?!

I can understand the need for Jack Kevorkian, though the courts put a stop to his shenanigans and he served half decent time if I remember correctly, I happen to think an individual should have the right to take ones own life in a controlled environment, each soul has its own agenda and who are we to say you can't - my 2c.

Dixi - regarding the AD, I wasn't suggesting you change your Zoloft, quite the contrary, if it works for you like it does for me then it should stay, but there maybe another AD that you can add to the mix that may suit your needs. My wife is a clinical nurse who says taking multiple AD's is quite common and considered effective. Just a thought cos I reckon you stand to lose very little. I still don't think you are going to cause any harm (aside from increased constipation perhaps), but you aren't going to end up trying to score Heroin in the hood and die upside down in a pub toilet with a needle hanging out of your arm.....you're not built like that mentally. I personally think you are very strong, to not use painkillers with your issues, sheesh. I just don't think you have many reasons to not take pills for some relief, even if you designate a particular day, opiate day.

=D SKR...I laughed out loud. Thank you for that, my friend!

I plowed my face into the shoulder of a male nurse when my ortho put the "skewer" in my left knee this morning! It looks like it bled out into the bandage, rather than "gellin" between my knee bones. I've officially designated this day "opiate day" as per your suggestion!

My husband told me to keep my little ass in the recliner w/cell nearby. Done...and done!

Hi DixiChick. Although comparing generic brands is frowned upon here I will say that I personally have noticed a difference with roxis and Norcos. Without going into too much detail (in order to avoid the proverbial spank) I can take a 30mg Qualitest roxi that will last about 2, 3 hours tops. I take a dose of the Actavis/Watson roxis and they go strong for a good 6-8 hours before I feel the need to redose. Maybe it's the +/- 10% variable or the inactives used but this is the experience I'm getting. I could list several more comparisons but I was once chastised for comparing generic brands so out of respect for the rules I won't go there.

As far as your doc not being willing to put patient care before his reputation by not being willing to prescribe your needed 120 a month, that sucks! Some docs really have their head up their ass. I know someone who gets scripted 150 roxi 30s a month as well as a plethora of 2mg Xanax bars from the same doc. I was prescribed 180 Norco 10s myself at one point and knew a woman who got 240 Norcos a month. You can thank the good old DEA and people who work the system for that. Anyhow I keep nodding so I'm gonna quit while I'm concious. ;)

EDIT: I meant thank them for your doc not being willing to prescribe you what you need.

Hello everyone I'm new here, so I'm sorry if I'm on the wrong thread.
I have two bulging disk ( L5 and S1) as well as arthritis in my spine. I'm 33 yrs. My Dr. has me on hydrocodone 5 and cyclobenzapine(sp) to deal with the pain. I've struggled with addiction for a about 6 yrs. From Vicodin to Methadone. A year ago I had surgery and the meds from that helped me taper down to where I was hardly taking anything that wasn't actually mine.

I still take my 5's and like maybe once or twice a month I will take something stronger. I also take Kratom drinks ( Viva Zen, Relakspro ect...) My thing is I recently found out I'm Pregnant, So far my OB/GYN has not been much help. They know what I take and never told me to stop. I go see my regular Dr. in 3 weeks.

I was just wondering if anyone has delt with being pregnant wile on medication. I have 2 kids already, but I didn't have the back problems back then (I was 21 and 22 when I had my boys)

I'm worried about having to stop taking everything because the pain can be unbearable, but I wanna do whats best for the baby.

Thank you.

^ I guess it depends on what you mean by once or twice a mth taking something stronger

The meds you're on should be fine to combine with carrying a pregnancy. Especially if your body is used to these kind of meds.

Best of luck

The struggle is fucking real people. Tiring. Going to see about some changes today. Prolly won't benefit me as my doc is a tight ass but wish me luck.

Yeah, so back to trying to figure out how to control myself. Not an easy task. I envy those of you that can do it.

Thanks Dixie,I was hoping to not see you on here either.I thought I had it whipped and did for a while but alas the ever increasing resistance to opoids.I was fine until month 4 of the same dose.Even a pcp should know tolerance goes up quickly,I didn't think 4 months on the same dose was too bad.I am disheartened to learn of your ongoing pain and aggravation.I have resigned myself to knowing I will be on the oxy for extended periods with a complete withdrawl every six months or so for my own good, and at my request.I guess I will go ahead and bite the bullet and go back to pain management, maybe I will find a better place to go this time.I hope you have a Merry Christmas and have a few lessened pain days to enjoy the upcoming season.God bless my friend!

Has anyone here suffered from headaches? My best gal has been now for 5 months. Things have been tried. Different meds, weed pills and nothing works very well. Oxys, Tabs, Dilaudid, nothing. The headaches never go away.
She's on toprimate now and its not helping. Any ideas?

^Gmlifer, it is indeed very real and there's only a fortunate few on this thread who can say that they have the battle in hand!

My wife suffered from migraines for years. She tried everything under the sun and finally got Botox. She had relief on the first session. It was short lived but after a couple touch ups her pain is under control. Going through the doctor was far to expensive. Look around and find some reputable that's not in a doctors office and you can get a decent price.

Good luck, I have come home to my wife curled up in a dark closet crying because her migraine was so bad.

Btw, we went to 3 different pm docs and a neuro specialist before the Botox and none of them could get it under control.

I have talked to my wife and she seems to think she can dole out the correct dose daily and put up with my ass asking for more without giving in. What a women. Not sure it's going to work but I'm pretty sure that she is sure lol.

Has anyone had success long term with daclofenac gel for ra swelling?
Ive been on it for a while but now its really no more effective than aspercreme.

Oxy is by far the best for pain for me as well as energy and bringing down the swelling (hands ankles knees hips jaw) but my doc wont switch me from the same low dose of hydro ive been on for 3 yr.

Baconduck you may have cluster headaches. My sister gets them and nothing helps. She actually read an article recently from a dr who an expert on them and he said shrooms help cluster headaches. My sister hasnt tried it but is going to in summer when you can get them. Maybe you dont but if none of that stuff works it may be. Google it and learn about them. I get ripping headaches every day about 2pm but my Tylenol and pain meds wipe them out so im lucky. I hope you find a remedy soon.

I have no experience with that gel so can't help there but as far as your doc and the hydro are we talking PM or GP?
