the same day Vogue's "Forces of Fashion" list was released, a Times UK published an article in which cara condemns the fashion industry and announces she's called it quits.

can't read the article because it's subscriber only, but apparently cara hated modeling. who'd of known. less than two months ago, she was telling MTV "I love working, and I love what I do. If I f–k it up now, it’s all my fault.”

get out on top. and she'd have to advocate for flat tax to tarnish her image in my book. or make a halfass comeback a year from now. i'll miss the little badass and wish her the best in her film career.

much to discuss, but it all begins and ends here. i'm having a dinner party when i get home from travel, where i have dinner with Pander Bear and my friend D.C and his girlfriend and I have to pretend I don't have all the feelings of being D.C's boss, his confidant, the most important person in his life. We were together for years. He called me mother. We snap chatted. Obviously, Pander and D.C dislike each other and I fawn over both and chirp pleasantly and pour the champagne. What have I done?

I am obsessed with Porn as Therapy. got my copy of the september issue yesterday. KICKING MYSELF. for not getting the italian. because good fucking lord. valentino is FUCKING ME UP. LIKE ACTUALLY FUCKING UP MY LIFE. i'm distracted at work, i'm having trouble sleeping. coupled with the new haunting, horrifying Chelsea Wolfe album and the stark, horrifying graphic novel i'm reading about the fall of the weimar republic, i'm not having a good time. or i'm having the best time of my life.

my life is fucked up right now. I leave for Berlin on Monday. I am becoming more and more enamored of this place and we haven't even left yet. We will be staying in our friend's apartment, with his Swiss 'embezzler' ("cyrill will make lots of money for you. just give him some, it's magical.") roommate and the building's 'enforcers' who are all bulgarian mob. we have roof access from his bedroom, and we can apparently walk at least 5km across Berlin and never touch the ground. my panties are wet. i'm going to run away, i'm going to run away to berlin and you'll never hear from me again because i'll just become shitty euro trash and get robbed on a train and end up stealing from tourists outside vienna or something else tragic.


macbeth isn't released in the united states until december 25th, and only limited release, which basically guarantees my little shitty backwater black capital Atlanta won't get it forever. i'm already dead.

Milan is fucking crazy. I yelled at our waiter for interrupting our wine service to help some 16 year old Czech girl at the restaurant. Shit is out of control. I'm listening to Lana's new album and freaking out over what clothes to wear to the Prada museum this afternoon. This trip has been absolutely bonkers. Can't even tell you how incredible Berlin was. I still have to figure how how to crash a show. I'm sleeping in the archives room in a building older than my country on Via Palermo. Love y'all . Wish you were here.

i lost a photo of katiusha. found it on a random not-fashion tumblr. it was different from her usual super-artsy stuff, but still editorial and not significantly retouched. untagged, high res, and with all of like 6 notes. liked it, and now it's gone. probably never see it again. what a nightmare.

she's also in my teen vogue saying some really disturbing shit. i don't know if she knows exactly what she's saying. it's all weirdly distorted and reading it made me feel like i was fucking high on drugs. everyone was so excited i was going to prom. of course i miss my friends but i think about what i'm gaining not what i'm losing. i didn't want to touch it, it was so scary! i've also been on a plane/train/bus/punk squat for the past 24 hours so i might in fact be high on drugs.

aside - my sister dragged me into Kohl's today, and actually had clothes picked out for me at the check out. i told her, not for the first or last time, i do not wear new clothes. she showed me this tourquoise flannel nightmare and said, i just thought you'd like this. i said, well, find it at goodwill. the trendy check out people were listening to all of this....and i told 'em 'fight the fashion empire'.

i think all of this comes from me having a crush on this guy who was addicted to top model or some such. he frequently asserted that well, people from Ugly Betty and The Devil Wears Prada pull invisible strings that determine what i wear. is there any truth in that?

mine you, i have great respect for the art of haute couture - so much that i'll italicize it. but consumer capitalism is my nemesis.

designer fashion has a lot of give and take with the rest of art and pop culture. though most people do not watch runway shows, they unknowingly see the influence everyday. including in day-to-day attire.
