I completely agree that they should report someone for child porn if they accidentally find it, I don't really agree that they should be scanning people's emails for anything other than their stated purpose (to target ads at you). Unless they were planning on serving up some child porn ads and then changed their minds...

I assume and hope it's just geared up to notice keywords like 'noncing up kids' and 'that's a fit ten year old' and reports back whereas with other stuff it just goes 'right gonna try sell you this then'. I know that we couldn't get google adwords or whatever for my ex's porno blog and that was relatively tame (as opposed to child porn, anyway).

I've had a think about that google thing and if their usual ad-sniffing software has had a database of child porn linked into it so it can scan for images in folks email accounts then, on reflection, I can't really see how that's anything but a good thing.

I was a bit quick to get my privacy hat on earlier.

^ Now that actually does raise an interesting point amongst this whole paedo debate. Eric Gill was an immensely talented and immensely popular artist - one of those rare "man of the people" artists who struck a chord with "the working man" for his portrayals of industrial workers as well as his (frankly outstanding) WWII art work. By any standards a true artistic genius. The paedo stuff came out after his death when his diaries and such like were discovered. It wasn't just paedo stuff either - bestiality and all sorts were involved. But his artwork was so popular (and still is) that it remains on prominent display all over the place. Similar applies to any number of artists of many forms both in recent history and going back centuries.

I am somewhat ambivalent on the matter cos if we were to remove all traces of any artist who had... fukkin horrible personal lives there'd be few left worthy of the name. That's not to say one is related to t'other by any means but there's no getting away from the fact that many artists - in any form of the arts - got up to things abhorrent to any "normal" standards. Many of the Renaissance artists would also have to have their work removed from public view by this standard. Along with many more recent artists. I'm not sure I would want to live in a world without that art. At the same time, people do horrible things and it leaves... way beyond a bad taste to consider those things. It's a very complex question - far more so than the bogstandard "string 'em up by the balls" approach. That is what makes it an interesting question. Discuss.

As bad as savile, or worse still, the lostprophets singer has to be one of, if not the most dangerous paedo I have ever heard of, and believe you me, I've heard a few rather nasty things in my time doing time (no, not for being a paedophile, one of which I am most certainly not:p)

With incurably sick fucking fucks like this noxious cunt (watkins) I don't think they deserve ever to see the sky or breathe free air again, but should be buried in a mass grave to be dug at nonce-lockup facilities after they die (or before, I really wouldn't give two damns either way if I'm honest), and forgotten about, not even allowed to see the outside of his prison from the back of a hearse. And animal rape too. Jesus. If there is something I truly, truly despise, its bastards that abuse animals. I suppose its a bit different in the case of a woman getting shagged by fr.ex. a dog or something, where the animal performs the penetrative act, but in the case of a man screwing a female (or male for that matter) animal, I'd have given ian watkins the noxious cunt another 35 years inside for that, and not, as seems to be the universal way with crims nowadays, to run concurrently, nor with good behaviour sentence reductions.

Funnily enough, just today I was speaking to a friend (50's) and he said he had a good friend, who was gay and was a part of the running of some gay club in London many years back, which Cliff Richard would attend.

Amongst the gay community in this club, it was known that Cliff was very sexually perverse and outraged many members of the gay community; he was told a few shocking stories. "20 years I've been waiting to here this news on Cliff!!" he was saying.
