Is agnosticism intellectual cowardice?

so then what are they?

now that's just postulating that something of insignificance may exist, like a new kind of deep sea shark, that i will deny the existence of until it is caught in a trawlers net, and upon its revelation, will mean sweet fuck all for humanity.

It doesn't mean sweet fuck. Maybe YOU don't get anything out of it, but I know hundreds of people IRL who take incredible inspiration and hope and positivity from their faith. Who cares if it turns out not to be real objectively if it is subjectively and does positive??
I'd much rather know a positive and encouraging religious nut than a negative contrarian who only brings people down.

This is off-topic but how do you remember that name?

What is real? Everyone has there own.

And "nut" I object to, as in being extremely religious doesn't mean that one is such. Pejorative atheists are all too easy to find, sadly.

Lol, I never need to remember it.. But I have it written down in case I ever do. My name is Lain if you ever wanna address me and not type that out, or just use !! I guess ha. It's randomly generated to show chaos and anonymity lol.

It takes humility to admit you don't know. In intellectual circles, humility gets a lot of lip service, but pride is just easier and offers more ego padding against seeing one's brainchildren skewered. Being humble and saying "I don't know" is brave, not cowardly, in a world where people look to you for certain-ish answers, and where no matter what you say, there will be people who'll be willing to follow you and be your fan, so long as you come off as certain.

Not really. Agnosticism points to confidence in belief, not content thereof. If someone says that he or she is agnostic, the next questions are, "What would you guess is the nature of reality and why?"

ebola

Why does god have to be a supreme creator in the sky? I think that's laughable. But that doesn't mean that there is no god.
Amen brother. It is really quite simple:
"In the beginning was the word; and the word was god; and the word was with god."

No, it's honesty and quite possibly bravery to admit that you don't know when you really don't know.

Just because you don't know; you assume that no-one knows--- Then say that it is "honesty and bravery" to take YOUR position -- well done, brave one!

I suppose on some level what you said is true. If someone else really does know, would they be able to convince me? Has any person who has become privy to such knowledge about the cosmic divine convinced me that I should not "not know" but "know because they know"? No, so agnosticism is still my position, and that is what I honestly think, and I'm brave enough to say it!

saying "I don't know" is brave, not cowardly

not necessarily... In my case is just laziness :-D

But I can see how it could be too someone with a lot of intellectual pride.

Also... Does anyone else find the whole argument a little Boring??

Exceptionally.

Honestly, I wish people would just stop talking about this 'God' fellow. Aside from the subject's intrinsic philosophical value, there's really not much to be gained through discussion.

"A little philosophy inclineth man's mind to atheism, but depth in philosophy bringeth men's minds about to religion."
~ Francis Bacon

But religion and god are not the same thing.

I have done these things (or analogues of these things). I am an atheist.

/fallacious diatribe

Ditto: I'm a HARD atheist, and I've done DMT.

I never had a "spiritual" experience on DMT or any other of the myriad psychedelics I've done. I've never had them alter my (sober) understanding of objective reality either. Alll I've had are lulzy euphoric or unpleasant dysphoric, temporary experiences. I find referring to ones frank hallucinations as proof of some grand cosmic idea trite and inane.
